Through the Grand Canyon of the Feather River -- June 11, 2013

The Western Pacific Railroad was created in 1903 in an effort to break the Southern Pacific's monopoly on service to the San Francisco Bay Area.  The Western Pacific went through the Feather River Canyon, which involved lower grades than the Overland Route.
