FDR Polio, 100 Years -- August 11, 2021

100 years ago today, future President Franklin Delano Roosevelt contracted polio. He made a heroic fight and was able to return to politics and save the United States from the Great Depression and lead us through World War Two. 

FDR 75 Years -- April 12, 2020

75 years ago today, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt died.  My mother always says he was the only president she had known. 

1939 New York World's Fair Opens -- April 30, 2014

75 years ago, on 30-April-1939, the New York World's Fair opened in Flushing Meadows.  The theme of the fair was "Dawn of a New Day."  The Trylon and the Perisphere were symbols of the fair.  The Perisphere contained a model city of the future.  The opening ceremony, including President Franklin D Roosevelt's speech, was televised.
