The San Francisco Arts Commission (http://www.sfartscommission.org/) has set up a series of posters representing characters from Dashiell Hammett's The Maltese Falcon (one of my favorite novels). Artist Owen Smith made this image to represent the author.
I took this photo Tuesday on Market near Fifth.
There was an evil-looking red sun this morning. In the afternoon, the wind was blowing and I didn't smell smoke.
