The San Francisco Arts Commission (http://www.sfartscommission.org/) has set up a series of posters representing characters from Dashiell Hammett's The Maltese Falcon (one of my favorite novels). Artist Owen Smith made this image to represent Brigid O'Shaughnessy and detective Sam Spade. I wonder if Hammett took her name from City Engineer MM O'Shaughnessy.
