COVID-19, Fires, Church, Baseball and School -- September 30, 2020

On Wednesday, September 9, about 10, I noticed that it had not gotten to be very light out.  I looked and took this photo about 10:15am. When I went to the kitchen to make lunch, I had to turn on the light in the kitchen. The orange tint was caused by smoke from the various wildfires. It looked bad, but the smoke was high in the atmosphere. After that, it dropped down and made it hard for people to breathe. We had 30 straight Spare the Air days, doubling the old record.

The Giants missed two games because a player had a COVID-19 test give what turned out to be a false positive. A series in Seattle had to be moved to San Francisco because of the smoky air in the Pacific Northwest.

We continued to attend outdoor mass at 11am at Good Shepherd in Pacifica. Some of the crowd that shows up is from the pastor's former parish in San Francisco. Outdoor masses in San Francisco have been limited to 13 people. The Archbishop is trying to get that changed.

Some schools returned to in-person teaching.
