Singer/songwriter Melanie has died. She was pretty and she had a beautiful voice. She wrote and performed music that sticks in my head. "Lay Down" with the Edwin Hawkins Singers hits me in the heart every time. She sang at Woodstock.

Saxophonist David Sanborn was born 75 years ago today, on 30-July-1945. He played in the horn section at Woodstock. I have heard his name and his music on many different radio stations.

Woodstock 50 -- August 16, 2019

The Woodstock Music and Art Fair, Three Days of Peace and Music took place 50 years ago, on 15-17 August, 1969.  I wasn't very old and I was on the West Coast, so I didn't hear much about it while it was going on.  I remember jokes about it in Mad Magazine.  I didn't get to see the movie on its first run, but I saw it a few theaters.
