One hundred years ago today, on 12-July-1916, USS North Carolina, Armored Cruiser Number 12, near Pensacola, Florida, made the first launch of an airplane from a ship that was underway. The Curtiss AB-2 flying boat was piloted by Henry Mustin and John Towers.
