Hedy Lamarr 100 -- November 9, 2012

Beautiful actress Hedy Lamarr was also an accomplished mathematician, who collaborated on a patent for a frequency hopping method which became an important basis for digital wireless communication. During World War II, she raised an enormous amount of money for the war effort.

The image is from the wonderful site LucyWho: It shows Miss Lamarr in Cecil B DeMille's Samson and Delilah, in which she starred with Victor Mature. Groucho Marx said something like "I'm not interested in a film where the leading man's chest bigger than the leading lady's."
