Gung Hay Fat Choy -- February 7, 2008

Happy Lunar New Year.

Yesterday was Ash Wednesday. Easter will be early this year. I went to Saint Patrick's at lunch time. They directed us to the church hall, where there was a second service. They had a second collection for the Archdiocesan Appeal.

As we rode the express bus home, we noticed that Manor west of Palmetto was full of fire trucks from many jurisdictions. I found out later that an auto had hit Camelot Fish and Chips. This was the second time in ten years that a car had done that. The auto also hit poor Cal Hinton, city council member and former fire chief, and broke his leg.

This morning after the alarm went off, the bed lurched. At first I thought the cat had jumped up, but it turned out to be a small earthquake.

The picture is a postcard showing a California Street cable car passing the Sing Fat store at Grant Avenue. See more at my cable car site: http://www.cable-car-guy.com/
