Harry James 100 -- March 15, 2016

Trumpeter Harry James was born 100 years ago today, on 15-March-1916. His father led a circus band. Harry played in Benny Goodman's band for two years at the time that Goodman was getting big, then left to form his own band. Frank Sinatra sang with the band. James hit it big when he added a string section. "You Made Me Love You" was very popular, but not respected by people who like jazz. I remember when he was still playing in Las Vegas. He died in 1983.

Despite being kind of funny looking, he managed to marry Betty Grable.
