Zatara was a supporting character in DC's Action Comics and Detective Comics for many decades. I remember new stories when I was reading comics in the 1960s and 1970s, Zatara was a stage magician who had actual magic powers. He invoked his powers by speaking backwards. Things got more interesting when his daughter Zatanna appeared. The artists had a lot of fun drawing her. Here he makes a rare cover appearance on Action Comics number 12.
