The Flash was introduced in
Flash Comics 1 in 1940. He has always been "The Fastest Man Alive," but he has been several different characters over the year. I always thought the Hermes/Mercury helmet of the Golden Age Flash was kind of silly, but looked good compared to the red uniform of the later Flashes.
