Today is the 125th anniversary of the publication of Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in the United States. It would have been published a bit earlier, as it was in the UK, but some engraver had tampered with one of Kemble's images and made it into an obscene joke. "But I reckon I got to light out for the territory ahead of the rest, because Aunt Sally she’s going to adopt me and sivilize me, and I can’t stand it. I been there before."
