Sweeney Observatory -- May 13, 2008
This postcard shows Sweeney Observatory, atop Strawberry Hill in Golden Gate Park, where people could go to observe Sweeneys. The building was destroyed in the Earthquake and Fire of 1906. The foundations are still visible.
Have you heard that Coit Tower has been officially declared a national historical building? Apparently there is a dedication ceremony this Sunday noon at the Tower, a 1930s dress-up affair. I can't make it, but I wish I could.

I had not heard about it. Sounds like fun. It might turn out to be a little warm for 1930s dress-up, though.
