Tickell in the Roberts-Motored Banshee -- February 1, 2008

I like early heavier-than-air flying machines, and the people who flew them. Here is Sam Tickell in his Glenn Curtiss-built plane, the Banshee. On 9-October-1911, Tickell made a 48 mile flight from Lancaster to Harrisburg, Pennslyvania. Sources on the internet report that he lived until 1966.

This photo is from Aero and Hydro: America's Aviation Weekly, 28-October, 1911.
